In response to the questions for this discussion. I choose Australian Slang first. Hotbot.com produced 104,000 results, a list of ten hyperlinked page/post titles URLs, plus meta data text including first 18 – 30 words approximately. No images were provided on the page except the search engine logo. Adding quotation marks produced 234,000 results. Adding Boolean AND increased output 1.2 million results. Using Text In A Search Engine Google vs Hotbot read.
Google without quotes produced over 5 million responses. Google also included a sub heading People Also Ask with several reveal answer blocks, set on hidden with action arrows. You can click on the arrow to reveal more details. At the bottom of the page was a list of eight related links. Adding quotes reduced results to 400,000 to refine details. Google offers tools on their menu which a searcher can further refine into genre or other tools including time.
My second search was on Boolean. Hotbot.com produced over 4.9 million results. Similar characteristics as mentioned in first search. Adding quotes reduced result by 200,000. Adding FOR added 20,000 to previous result.
Google without quotes produced 43 million results. Adding quotes and AND all made no change to results shown on page. Other characteristics in first search were listed on each result.
Quality is subjective. Google is many things to many people and widely used. If you use Boolean as a tool then hotbot maybe your search of preference. Google is my go to search engine. I have used Yahoo and others in the past.
